Wood
Stove Heated Sauna
Upon
reflection we definitely formed the opinion that it was the social aspect
that seemed to be the key element. Being social people ourselves, we
figured, why not. A wood fired sauna at Ranch 4 Saisons,
what a point of difference!
Nordic
Countries have used these types of saunas for centuries. Traditional
saunas produce dry heat from a stove with a basket of hot stones on
top. Just throwing a small amount of water onto the hot stones, creates
a rush of intense heat and moisture to the air.
Saunas
improve circulation, relieve internal congestion and promote
elimination of toxins.
A
sauna before another treatment will promote relaxation
and improve the benefits of other body therapies and treatments.

Using a
wood stove, heating the sauna can become a pleasant and relaxing ritual.
The enjoyment in the sauna is complete: the gentle heat, the right humidity
and the crackling fire. Our wood burning sauna heater is a genuine Finnish
product, warmly recommended to all sauna enthusiasts.
The
Traditional use of Sauna
The
hot room is heated by a stone-filled stove to 80°C - 100°C.
The humidity is increased by throwing water on the stones. After being
in the hot room for 10-20 minutes your pulse rate rises to 120-150/min,
your skin temperature to about 40°C and you are sweating profusely.
Cooling
is needed and it can be achieved in brisk water fall(in season)or by
dipping in one of our Nordic river or simply by sitting outside . The
most vigorous way of cooling is to dip in a hole cut in the ice or to
roll yourself in a snowdrift. The hot-cold cycle is usually repeated
at least twice, but real sauna fans can do it 3 to 6 times.
Sauna
For what?
Sauna
treatment incorporates aroma and sound therapy to provide a comprehensive
and enjoyable approach to well being.
Why
Sauna?
Basically it’s a more relaxing and efficient experience.
You sweat up to 3 times more using half the temperature of a traditional
the Far Infra red sauna. Or steam room.
Helping
things like:
- Pain
relief from sore muscles and joints
- Toxin
Elimination
The
skin is the body’s largest organ and is designed to aid in cleansing
and purifying so sweating plays a crucial role in maintaining a healthy
body.
The
Sauna acts on water molecules within our cells, it makes them vibrate
and break bonds, which hold toxins within the body. This makes it easier
for the body to sweat out much higher levels of toxins.
Modern
lives are often characterized by poor diets high in processed foods,
sedentary lifestyles and exposure to environmental toxins, these need
to be purged from the body to maintain well-being.
It’s
Safe
Sports
medicine, hospitals and burn specialists often use it to enhance the
healing processes of the skin and healing of sprains and strains. Most
people can easily sweat off up to 500gms or more in a session. This
translates to more than 300kcal - the same as a 30-minute walk!
Which
Treatment???
Sauna treatments
are effective on their own or can be combined with massage treatments
to produce a longer and deeper therapy…
How
long for a treatment?
As
with any form of exercise it is advisable to build up a tolerance over
time according to your availability as many times as you wish. Once
session a week is to enjoy.
Comparison
to normal maple wood burning sauna to an Infrared sauna not to good.
